You may be wondering.. what exactly is USY?

Well, USY stands for United Synagogue Youth and is an international organization that allows teens to continue learning about Judaism in a social environment. USY has been around since 1950 and is still going strong. USY has grown to become an international group with over 400 chapters all across the United States and Canada. In addition to North America, sister organizations called Noar Mesorti in Israel and Noam USY in Hungary were established.

On the Livingston chapter level, USY has tons to offer! LUSY (Livingston USY) has fun events every Thursday incorporating Israel, Religious Education, and Social Action/Tikun Olam. Also, you can meet new high school students and become best friends. Not only that, but most Livingston USY events are free!

The regional level of USY, Hagalil, allows you to meet other teens from all over northern New Jersey. Hagalil is divided into 7 Tzafon and Mercaz Areas for a total of 38 chapters and 1,250 members. There are monthly dances, several awesome conventions, and a week-long encampment at the end of summer.

On the national level, USY has a big one week annual convention in some of America's greatest cities! In recent years, USYers have visited Washington, D.C., Boston, San Jose, New York City, Philadelphia, and Chicago. In addition, there are great summer programs like USY on Wheels, a six week tour of North America, and Mission: Mitzvah, a group participating in many social action projects.

Internationally, USY has 17 great regions! During the summer, there are many incredible summer programs in Israel and Eastern Europe, lasting between 6 and 8 weeks. In addition, there is the Nativ program, where high school graduates spend six months attending Hebrew University in Jerusalem and then six months on a kibbutz.
